Wildcats Fall to Mariners: Katie Begin and Sam Hahn Honored in Final Game During Senior Night

HOLYOKE, Mass.—Freshman guard Justine Hook (Berwick, Penn.) once again led all players with a game high 18 points and ten rebounds. Senior guard and honoree Katie Begin (Weare, N.H.) chipped in eight points for the Wildcats despite a 55-34 loss to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival the Mitchell Mariners tonight during senior festivities at the Bartley Center also honoring forward Sam Hahn (Hadley, Mass.).

Leading the way for the Mariners were a pair of starting forwards' senior Alix O'Neil (New London, Conn.) and junior Bianca Young (Bridgeport, Conn.) tallying 12 and 14 points. O' Neil also chipped in seven boards and three assists while Young added three boards, two assists and three steals.

Coming off the bench for Mitchell, sophomore forward Jordon Ringwood (New Haven, Conn.) led the Mariners under the boards with nine rebounds. Ringwood also added seven points and a game high six steals.

Hook started the game off on fire nailing three treys in just over three minutes keeping Bay Path in the game for the first half. At 14:08 Begin would land a bucket to bring the score within one point 11-12. Mariner senior guard Allison Peck (Colchester, Conn.) would start the ball rolling for Mitchell landing s shot at 13:49 on the clock. Young would then make three from the charity stripe in the next few minutes. Begin would then make another shot, but Young would answer her back with a lay-up to put them up by seven at 8:01 on the clock.

Bay Path would then not come any closer to bridging the gap with Mitchell going up by 12 points at the half 31-19. Peck would finish with seven points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Bay Path's key reservist freshman Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) would finish with six boards, while Hahn would add three rebounds and two points.  Sophomore guard Brittney Alexander (Enfield, Conn.) had six rebounds, four points and four assists.

Begin finished  the season with 139 points, 86 rebounds, 44 assists and 27 steals. Hahn concluded her senior campaign with 77 points, 98 rebounds, 15 blocks and six steals.

Bay Path concludes there season at 0-25 and 0-16 in conference play, while Mitchell is now 14-8 and 11-4 in the NECC they will face Becker on the road on Saturday, February 19th at a 1:00 p.m. tip off.
