The Wildcats Fall in First Conference Home Game to Eagles

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path College hosted the Eagles of Daniel Webster College in an there first NCAA game held at Ryan Field in women's lacrosse falling 12-8 to fellow New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponents. The Eagles earn their first victory of the season with a strong second half surge. The Eagles finish their season 1-6 and 1-4 in conference play, while Bay Path concludes their 2013 first year program at 0-5 though they managed two pre-season victories over Albertus Magnus and Mitchell.

Danielle Webster struck right off the first draw with senior midfielder Kaylea Parkin (Red Hook, N.Y.) driving it in for the first goal. The Wildcats retaliated with four more goals in the next 15 minutes from senior attacker Shelby Regan (Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomore midfielder Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.), junior midfielder Jillian O'Melia (East Logmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore attacker Amanda Bridge (Laconia, N.H.). The Eagles responded with three more goals with sophomore attacker Alexis Pavelock (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) knotting the score at 13:31 on the clock 4-4 off a free position shot.

Wildcat attacker Bridge responded with a goal regaining the lead for the final time for the freshman program. Daniel Webster would add two more goals putting the half score at 6-5 before heading into half time from junior midfielder Brandi Ritz (Burlington, N.J.) and senior attacker Samantha Bark (Belfast, Maine).

The Eagles would not look back heading off the break with Parkin driving two more quick goals off of the draw. Parkin would then assist the ninth goal with a pass inside to junior attacker Christina McHugh (Taunton, Mass.) at 14:00 on the clock.  Tancredi would try to wage the spark for Wildcats scoring 13:12 on the clock only to have Pavelock respond a minute later.

Sophomore midfielder Megan Squadrito (Ellington, Conn.) would again try to chip away at the Eagles lead with 12 minutes left after a free position shot. Parkin and Pavelock would score two more for the Eagles notching their first victory in the books. Sophomore defender Nicole Mitchell (Hopkinton, NH) would score the final goal at 1:57 remaining on the clock.

Parkin would prove to be the offensive leader for the game with five goals and one assist with Pavelock not far behind with four goals.

Tancredi and Bridge would lead Bay Path with two goals apiece, while Squadrito and O'Melia each had a goal and assist.

Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Barclay (Auburn, Maine) would suffer the loss facing 31 shots with 19 saves. Freshman goalie Lauren Carrick (Pelham, NH) would notch her first collegiate victory with three saves facing 11 shots.

The Wildcats honored final year Rachael Barber (Swampscott, Mass.) prior to the game in their senior festivities.
