LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The #3 Bay Path College Wildcats advance to the semifinal round on Thursday after a 0-0 double overtime tie with #6 Newbury College Nighthawks in the first round today of the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Soccer Championships. The Wildcats’ freshman goalkeeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) was stellar between the sticks including three saves in the shoot-out to advance her team with a 3-2 margin.

Six Seniors Honored in Ceremony Following the Match LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Senior forward Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) broke through in the 108th minute of play of double overtime action as the Bay Path College women’s soccer team posted its second consecutive win, 1-0, over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Southern Vermont College this afternoon at Ryan Field during senior day festivities.

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Blazers of Elms College proved too much for the Wildcats of Bay Path falling 2-0 today in the New England Collegiate Conference’s (NECC) women’ soccer match-up at Ryan Field. Senior midfielder Christina Goodchild (East Longmeadow, Mass.) would score the first and eventual game winner off a corner kick in the 28th minute of play. The Wildcats freshman goalkeeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, N.Y.) faced 15 shots from the Blazers finishing with two saves and two goals against for her 90 minutes of play.

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Senior forward Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) scored two goals and sophomore midfielder Brittany Briggs (Arlington, Vt.) added her first two assists of the season, as the Bay Path College women’s soccer team posted its third consecutive win, 4-2, over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Becker College Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Wildcats improve to .500 with a 5-0 shut-out of NCAA DIII regional opponents the Gators of Pine Manor. In a re-scheduled match from earlier in September, both teams once again dealt with torrential downpours and extremely windy conditions. Despite the weather, the full 90 minutes were played to Bay Path’s second straight shut-out and fifth of the season. Senior midfielder Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) led the way for the Wildcats scoring the first two goals.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Freshman forward Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) scored two goals and had an assist all in the 2nd half as Bay Path College won the “Battle of the Cats” 7-0 in NECC action over the Wildcats of Wheelock. Rizvani also got the win in goal as she stopped 2 shots during her 1st half action. Senior forward Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) started the scoring at 37.29 of the 1st half with a goal and added a 2nd later in the game. Also chipping in with goals were freshman, Brianna Kujawski (Webster, Mass.), Yardley Mellon (Springfield, Mass.) and junior Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) and Emily Serrano (Savoy, Mass.) had 2 assists for Bay Path.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Wildcats fell 8-0 in their 2013 home opener to NCAA Division III regional opponent the Falcons of Albertus Magnus. Freshman keeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) managed held the Falcons to only two goals in the first half. Rizvani finished with seven saves and only three goals against facing 20 shots ten of which were on goal.

ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Lesley University is the coaches choice to finish atop the 2013 NECC women's soccer standings. The Lynx, who received eight first place votes and 98 points, return seven starters including 2011 NECC Player of the Year Veronica Halen and 2012 first team standouts Taylor Smith and Alexis Giusti. Lesley is the defending NECC champion and has not lost in regular season conference play since 2008. The Wildcats were slated 8th out of 10 teams.
