Wildcats Chomp Gators 5-0

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Wildcats improve to .500 with a 5-0 shut-out of NCAA DIII regional opponents the Gators of Pine Manor. In a re-scheduled match from earlier in September, both teams once again dealt with torrential downpours and extremely windy conditions. Despite the weather, the full 90 minutes were played to Bay Path's second straight shut-out and fifth of the season. Senior midfielder Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) led the way for the Wildcats scoring the first two goals.

The Wildcats struck at 16:57 in the first half when Dougherty netted the eventual game winner. Dougherty would connect with a junior forward Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.) cross for the second goal at 32:20 on the clock.

In the second half, freshman forward Kristen Lynch (Belchertown, Mass.) managed to score the third goal in a IVI situation at 57:03 on the clock.

Senior midfielder Emily Serrano (Savoy, Mass.) had a "foot" in the final two goals. She launched the fourth goal at 79:37 on the clock unassisted. Serrano would then slice a beautiful pass inside to junior midfielder Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) for a header scoring the fifth and final goal of the game.

Freshman keeper Shianne Silvia (Warwick, R.I.) was awarded the victory facing seven shots, four on goal. Senior goalie Natasha Kopystsky (Johnsburg, Ill.) suffered the loss facing 31 shots, 19 of which were on goal. Kopystsky finished with 14 saves.

Bay Path advances to 5-5-1 overall and Pine Manor is 2-6 on the season.
