Bay Path Wins Third Straight, Doubling Up Becker 4-2 to Climb Over .500 in Pink Out Day

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Senior forward Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) scored two goals and sophomore midfielder Brittany Briggs (Arlington, Vt.) added her first two assists of the season, as the Bay Path College women's soccer team posted its third consecutive win, 4-2, over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Becker College Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field.
Bay Path roared to a 3-0 halftime lead as three different Wildcats found the back of the net in a 19-minute span of play. Dougherty booted home a pass from Briggs for her 13th goal of the year to open the scoring just 15:45 into the contest. Briggs fed Kristen Lynch (Belchertown, Mass.) for her third goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0 just over four minutes later, at the 20:06 mark. Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.) closed out the first-half scoring with an unassisted tally at 34:35, her third tally of the year.
Dougherty's second goal of the day and NECC-best 14th marker of the season came just 11 minutes into the second half thanks to a helper from senior Rachel Barber (Lynn, Mass.) that gave Bay Path an insurmountable 4-0 lead. The assist was Barber's NECC-high fifth of the season.
Becker trimmed the margin to 4-1 on an unassisted goal on an Erika Galdamez (Concord, Calif.) free kick at the 66:36 mark, her fourth goal of the season. The Hawks cut the lead to 4-2 as Lauren Kelly (Woodstock, Conn.) assisted on sophomore Jesley Texieira's (New Bedford, Mass.) first goal of the campaign with just under three minutes to play to complete the scoring.
Freshman Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) enjoyed a stellar first half, chalking up 45 shutout minutes between the posts, before moving to the forward position for the second half of play.
Junior Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) registered eight saves in net for Becker.
Bay Path enjoyed a healthy 19-4 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The win lifted the Wildcats' record to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in NECC play, pushing Bay Path over the .500 mark for the first time this season. Becker fell to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in the NECC.
Up next for the Wildcats is a 4:00 p.m. matchup against visiting NECC foe Elms College on Tuesday. Becker will host NECC opponent Southern Vermont Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
