Wildcats claw past Gators 2-0 in win

Chestnut Hill, MA- Bay Path College scored a goal in each half and scored a 2-0 win over Pine Manor in what was otherwise a fairly even match between the two squads.

Bay Path was just a little bit better on the afternoon as they out shot the Gators 11-8 and held a decisive edge in corners 8-3. The game was nonetheless tight as Joanne Feliciano scored the only goal of the first half in the 25th minute putting the visitors up 1-0.

The Gators still had to feel pretty good going into the half down just 1-0 and playing at home. That good feeling quickly turned though as Jalilnne Ruiz scored just 55 seconds into the second half making a 2-0 hole for the home team. That hole proved to be insurmountable as Bay Path keeper Caitlyn Esposito turned back all 7 shots she saw to earn the victory.

Charley Lutz made 5 saves for the Gators in defeat. Elizabeth Anderson did her best to ignite the Gators offensively as she put a game-high four shots on Esposito, but was denied each time.

The Gator fall to 1-1 on the season and Bay Path moves to 2-1. The Gators hope for a different result on Tuesday when they will face Lyndon State at home at 3:30pm.
