Bay Path Celebrates Columbus Day in Style with 3-1 Win Over St. Joseph

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path overcame a slow start to take down the Blue Jays of St. Joseph College 3-1 tonight at the Bartley in NCAA DIII regional women's volleyball action. Leading all performers was junior middle hitter Nadine Harkless  hitting a .300 attack percentage with 18 kills for the four sets.  St. Joseph took the first set 25-18, while Bay Path came back to win the next three sets 25-22, 25-17 and 25-15.

Harkless was the only player to notch kills in the double figures finishing the match with 21 points. She also added ten digs, two service aces and two block assists. Three other Wildcats had double digits on defense including sophomore setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) with eleven digs.  Provost also dished up the match high 24 assists.

Freshman right side hitter Kate Bartels (Dalton, Mass.) led her team with 12 digs, while senior outside hitter Davi Chuong (Easthampton, Mass.) added 11 digs. Junior outside hitter Vanessa Chaplin (Attleboro, Mass.) chipped in five kills.

Blue Jay junior middle hitter Michelle DiPinto (Burlington, Conn.) led her team with nine kills and ten digs. Defensively setter/outside hitter freshman Amanda Dondero (Mastic, N.Y.) led all players with 18 digs and added eight kills, five assists and four service aces.

Bay Path is now 6-8 overall while St. Jospeh falls to 1-18 on the season.  Bay Path travels to Bennington, Vt. for a NECC tri-match against host Southern Vermont and Becker on October 16 starting at 11:00 a.m.
