Wildcats Dominate Tri-Match Sweeping Bard and SUNY Purchase

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.- The Wildcats dominated the women's volleyball tri-match hosted by Bard College, sweeping SUNY Purchase 3-0 and host Bard 3-0, the host Raptors managed to pull off the other win on the day defeating the Panthers of SUNY Purchase College 3-1.  Leading the way for the Wildcats was freshman middle hitter Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.).  Haylette tallied a .300 attack percentage for the day with 14 kills in the six sets.

In the first match against SUNY Purchase, Bay Path took the match 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19 for the victory. Haylette hit .231 with eight kills, chipping in two block solos topping all players for the match.  Senior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) tallied 20 assists and seven digs.

Freshman outside hitter Arriadne Sykes (Hartford, Conn.) pitched in five kills notching her season high .333 attack percentage.  She also added four digs and four blocks including three solos along with three service aces.  Junior middle hitter Kate Bartels (Dalton, Mass.) also had five kills and nine digs. Defensively, the Wildcats sophomore defensive specialist Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) led her team with ten digs. Purchase is now 1-5 on the season.

In the final match of the day, the Wildcats took down host Bard in three games as well 25-11, 25-22 and 25-23. Haylette smacked a sizzling .429 hitting percentage for the match with six kills. She added two more block solos. Bartels and freshman outside hitter Katelynn Hannan (Troy, N.Y.) each dished out seven kills apiece. Hannan and Provost tallied nine digs each, while Bartels finished with eight digs.  Bayreuther topped all players with 21 digs.

Bay Path is now 5-2 overall, while Bard is 3-5. The Wildcats will travel to Worcester State on Tuesday, September 18th for a 7:00 p.m. match.
