Bay Path Continues Winning Streak Defeating NECC Rival Becker 3-0 on Dig Pink Senior Night

 


Senior setter Ashley Provost was honored for her four year career

HOLYOKE, Mass.- Bay Path shut down New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent the Hawks of Becker College tonight at the Bartley Center 3-0 (25-6, 25-17 and 25-13) during senior/ Dig Pink Night. The Wildcats honored their lone senior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) for her four year record breaking career at Bay Path. Provost finished the evening with the match high 26 assists along with two kills, two service aces and a dig. Bay Path also honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Dig Pink Match.

Freshman middle hitter Arriadne Sykes (Hartford, Conn.) notched a season high hitting percentage with a sizzling .714 attack percentage. Sykes finished with a match high ten kills. She also added two digs, two block solos, one block assist and one service ace.

Defensively Bay Path's outside hitter Katelynn Hannan (Troy, N.Y.) topped all players with 16 digs. She added four kills. Sophomore Libero Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) wasn't' far behind with nine digs, but also managed an amazing eight service aces including six from the first game during a 10 point serving rally sending the Wildcats to a quick first game win.

Provost secured the second game with a monster dump for the 25th point off a well played pass by Bayreuther.

Freshman middle hitter Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) finished with a .214 attack percentage adding five kills and one block solo.  Fellow freshmen Stephanie Synott (Torrington, Conn.) and Gladys Reed (Hampden, Conn.) combined for eight kills with both hitting .300 and over.

Bay Path finished with an amazing .362 attack percentage to the Hawks' -.051 hitting percentage for the match.

Becker was led by junior right side hitter Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.) with four kills, four service aces, four digs and one block solo. Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, Mass.) topped the Hawks with six digs. Senior setter Joanna Slomiak (Brockton, Mass.) had seven assists and four digs.

Provost who played in her final regular season home match set a few Bay Path All-Time Career Records for volleyball including assists in which she currently at 1,535 assists. She also broke the record for career service aces thus far with 171. She has also amassed 627 digs and has played in all 87 matches in her last four years.

Bay Path is now 11-10 overall and 3-4 in NECC play, while Becker falls to 2-23 and 0-7 in conference action.  Bay Path will conclude regular season Saturday, October 27th with a Tri-Match at NECC foe Daniel Webster also playing Pine Manor as well in non-conference action. Becker hosts Elms in their final match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
