Wildcats Fall to Mountaineers 3-0

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College women's volleyball continues to push toward the No. 1 seed in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tournament as it knocked off another conference opponent Wednesday night. The Mountaineers took down Bay Path College, 3-0, at the Mountaineer Athletic Center on the SVC campus.               
SVC is now 4-0 in the NECC (16-1 overall), while the Wildcats fall to 0-4 in conference (6-10 overall).               
 The Mountaineers continued to improve and work together as the match progressed, winning with game scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-6.               
 Five different Mountaineers recorded six or more kills, with Jessica Alvarez (Los Angeles, Calif.) leading the way at 11.  Freshman Sarah Graham (Moreno Valley, Calif.) had eight kills and only one error on 12 attempts for a match-best .583 hitting percentage.                
Wildcat freshman Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) led Bay Path with five kills on the night, while freshman Stephanie Synott (Torrington, Conn.) had a team-high 12 digs.                
Mountaineer senior libero Cindyline Sevilla (Los Angeles, Calif.) had a match-high 17 digs, while senior captain Carrie Baltazar (Whittier, Calif.) recorded 22 assists.               
 The Mountaineers continue conference play at 4 p.m. Saturday when they play at Mitchell College.  Bay Path will host Lesley University for an NECC matchup at Holyoke Community College at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
