Bay Path Brought Down By Becker

LEICESTER, Mass.-Becker College defeated Bay Path College 8-0, for their 21st consecutive New England Collegiate Conference field hockey victory.

Becker got the scoring started just 4:57 into the game when Brooke Cote (Fitchburg, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season. Becker made the score 2-0 when Michelle Griczika (Barre, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season when she ripped a shot past the blocker side of Bay Path goalie Kimberly Barbato (Saylorsburg, Penn.). The Hawks continued their first half dominance when Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn.) scored on a centering pass from Kim MacKay (Bethlehem, NH.), making the score 3-0. With 10:01 remaining in the first half Victoria Sirchia split the Bay Bath defense, scoring her second goal of the game, putting the Hawks in front 4-0. Michelle Griczika scored the final two goals of the first half, earning her first collegiate hat trick.

Kim MacKay and Victoria Sirchia connected for the second time of the game 00:43 into half, earning Sirchia her fourth career hat trick, third against Bay Path. The Hawks scored with 00:35 remaining in the game on Brooke Cote's second goal of the game, making the score 8-0.

Bay Path goalkeeper Kimberly Barbato made four saves in a losing effort, with the loss the Wildcats fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference. Nakita Gosselin (Springfield, VT.) and Samantha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, NJ.) split the game in net as the Hawks improved to 2-6 overall and 1-0 in the NECC.
