Eagles Skim Past Wildcats 2-1

Nashua, N.H. – Courtney Brennan (Beverly, Mass.) recorded a goal and an assist for Daniel Webster College as the Eagles defeated the visiting Wildcats of Bay Path College 2-1 Wednesday in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup at Harvey Woods Field.

This victory keeps the Eagles atop the NECC standings with a record of 5-0 in conference matchups and 8-3 overall, extending their lead over Wheelock to a full game. The Wildcats are now 2-8 overall with an NECC record of 1-5, as they sit in fourth place in the conference.

Brennan scored the Eagles first goal of the day after receiving a well placed pass from Samantha Bark (Belfast, Maine) right in front of the net during the 43rdminute of play.

With just under seven minutes remaining in the contest, Brandi Ritz (Burlington, N.J.) gained possession on a failed penalty corner by the Wildcats and took the ball the length of the field down the sideline to find Brennan who quickly set up a score by freshman Sierra Ackerman (Soldotna, Alaska) giving the Eagles a two goal lead.

Bay Path freshman Stephanie Belsen (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored on an assist from Jessica Priestly (Middleboro, Mass.) with two minutes left in the game to bring the Wildcats within one of Daniel Webster.

Kimberly Barbato (Saylorsburg, Penn.) recorded seven saves, including a stop on a penalty stroke by Natalie Bates (N. Kingstown, R.I.) in the second period.

Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) had two saves for the Eagles, as Daniel Webster was able to limit the Wildcats to just three shots on goal during the game.

The Wildcats will be back in action Wednesday as they host NECC rival Elms at 4:00 PM.
