Wildcats Open 2018 Campaign hosting Fitchburg State

LONGMEADOW, MASS. – Junior midfielder Joanna Feliciano (Springfield, Mass.) led the Wildcats scoring both Bay Path goals despite a 7-to-2 loss to the Falcons of Fitchburg State University. The Falcons' duo of sophomore midfielder Mikaela Mitchell (Millbury, Mass.) and freshman forward Elicia Marshall (Taunton, Mass.) each recorded a hat-trick for the night helping notch their first victory on the season.

Mitchell scored the first two goals launching the Falcons into an early lead in the first ten minutes.  At 10:24 on the clock junior midfielder Brittny Peralta (Leominster, Mass.) scored the third goal for Fitchburg, before Feliciano broke up the shut-out finding the back of the net at 15:05 off a cross from freshman forward Carina Facchini (Chicopee, Mass.).

Mitchell would again answer back at 29:35 on the clock, she would also help with an assist in the fifth and final goal of the first half after Marshall grabbed a deflected shot to send it past Bay Path's keeper.

Marshall would net two more goals in the second half putting the Falcons up 7-1. Feliciano would tally the final goal at 75:03 for the Wildcats.

Sophomore keeper Sarah Hemmings (Eastham, Mass.) recorded the win with 3 saves and one goal against. Freshman reserve keeper Emily Vitale (Ashland, Mass.) saw 25 minutes of play allowing one goal and had one save.

The Wildcats' junior keeper Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) tallied five saves.

The Wildcats are now 1-0 on the year; Fitchburg State is 1-0 overall. Bay Path will travel to Fisher for a 5:30 p.m. start Tuesday, September 4th.
