Wildcats Shut-Down Badgers 4-0 In Regional NCAA Women’s Soccer Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path's junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) earned her first shut-out on the season helping the Wildcats to a 4-to-0 victory over NCAA III regional opponent the Badgers of Northern Vermont-Johnson State. Esposito faced eleven shots, eight on goal, with eight saves for the contest. Senior forward Jai Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) led her team with one goal and two assists for the contest.

Sophomore midfielder Jennifer Wilson (Tolland, Conn.) finished with two goals, while junior midfielder Joanna Feliciano (Springfield, Mass.) tallied one off a corner.

Feliciano's goal came at 11:20 on the clock after a corner kick was mishandled by the Badgers' starting keeper senior Kaitlin Boucher (Barre, Vt.). This would prove to be the eventual game winner.

In the 21st minute, Ruiz would connect with Wilson for the second goal. Ruiz would find the back of the net four minutes later off a well played cross by fellow senior forward/midfielder Megan Mackie (APO, AE/Kaiserslautern, Germany).

At 33:57 on the clock the Wildcats would score the fourth and final goal of the game again from the duo or Ruiz and Wilson.

Boucher suffered the loss facing 19 shots, eight on goal, with four saves. Sophomore relief goalie Mia Blackwell (Cape Cod, Mass.) took over in the 84th minute of play tallying two saves. Bay Path is now 3-2 on the season, while the Badgers fall to 4-3 overall. The Wildcats will be back in action on Thursday, September 20th travelling to MCLA for a 6:00 p.m. match.
