Wildcats Claw Bulldogs in NECC Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass.-
Bay Path University hosted Dean College in a women's soccer match today defeating them 3-1 at Ryan Field. Senior forward Jai Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) led the Wildcats scoring twice for to a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) victory.

The Bulldogs struck first in the 12th minute of play when sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) drove past the Wildcats backline to score the first goal of the game. The Bulldogs held the advantage heading into the half.

The Wildcats came off the halftime break with a fire in their foot, Ruiz knotted the game at 60:35 on the clock off a well-placed corner kick by junior defender Christina Correa (Chicopee, Mass.). Ruiz would repeat seven minutes later scoring with the eventual game winner. Sophomore forward Jennifer Wilson (Tolland, Conn.) tallied the assist.

Coming off the bench, sophomore forward Jenna St. Jean (Mossup, Conn.) would relieve Ruiz and score one more insurance goal at 70:41 on the clock.

Junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) notched the win, she is now 4-1 overall. Esposito faced eleven shots, seven on goal, with six saves. The Bulldogs' junior keeper Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) suffered the loss.  Macy Parisee (1-5) faced 24 shots, eleven on goal, adding eight saves for her 90 minutes of play.

The Wildcats are now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NECC, while Dean falls to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
