Bay Path gets 1st victory of the 2018 season with 6-5 win over Fisher College.

Medford, MA- It was another gorgeous night for soccer at the Falcons home field, Hormel Stadium, and another hard fought battle by the women's soccer team.  Coach Julian Crowder's squad is battling injuries but have played their hearts out the first two contests this season.  Tonight they came up just short against Bay Path University, losing a tough one 6-5 despite a 4-0 lead in the first half.

The Falcons took an early lead as Sophomore Will Memeus (Everett, MA) broke free down the field to put it by the Wildcats goalie only 1:15 into the contest.  Just three minutes later Delaney McNulty (Northbridge, CA) scored her third goal of the season off an amazing throw-in by Alison Mosdale (Marlborough, CT) as she headed it into the back of the net, putting the Falcons up 2-0.  Again, at the 9:00 minute mark, it was Mosdale's powerful throw-in that created the scoring opportunity.  She threw it in from the left sideline, right in front of the goal, where a Bay Path defender couldn't clear it and the ball made its way across the goal line for a 3-0 lead.  Bay Path was able to slow down the Falcons until the 33rd minute when a Bay Path defender took down Mosdale in the box, earning the Falcons a penalty kick.  It was McNulty who took the kick putting it by the Bay Path's goalie, Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, CT), to put the Falcons up 4-0.  Bay Path responded with two goals of their own just before half time as Aryanna Townsend (Windsor, CT) and Jai Ruiz (Hadley, MA) scored for the Wildcats making it 4-2 at the half.

The injuries took a toll on the Falcons in the second half, and they were unable to keep pace as Bay Path scored three times out of the half to take the lead 5-4, with 30 minutes remaining in the contest getting scores from Cassidy Nuccio (Tolland, CT) and two from Jennifer Wilson (Tolland, CT). However, the Falcons refused to lay down without a fight and battled back to score again on another hook up between McNulty and Mosdale.  This time McNulty used her feet to put the ball across the line as she took another Mosdale throw-in that went up and over the defense and she blasted it into the net, giving the Falcons some fresh life, tying it up 5-5.  Unfortunately the Falcons could not hold on as Ruiz scored her second goal of the day in the 86th minute giving the visitor's the lead 6-5.

Falcons frehsman goalie Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, CO) did all she could to keep her team close as she had 14 saves on the day in her first collegiate start.  The Falcons have a much needed rest as their next game is on the road on September 16th vs Pratt Institute and will look to get on winning track with fresh legs.

Bay Path's next contest is September 13, 2018 away vs. Pine Manor College at 4 pm.
