Bay Path Drops Home Match to Pine Manor

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path opened up their home 2016 season hosting the Gators of Pine Manor College falling 3-1. The Wildcats opened the match strong with the highest attack percentage of the day hitting .344 with 15 kills winning the set 25-15. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they were not able to regroup falling 26-24, 25-14 and 25-22 in the next three sets.

Junior middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) finished with 17 kills and 21 digs hitting .250 for the match. Fellow junior right side hitter and newcomer Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.) led her team in attack percentage with a  solid. 318 adding nine kills for the Wildcats. Senior right side Paige Marshall (New Britain, Conn.) also notched double figures with 13 digs.

Sophomore setter Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) topped her team with five service aces and had 31 assists.

Freshman middle blocker Kendra Williams (San Diego, Calif.) led all players with a sizzling .462 attack percentage with 7 kills. Freshman outside hitter Viyanni Johnson (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished with a team high ten kills. Freshman libero Alexa Leon (El Centro, Calif.) had 15 digs, while junior opposite hitter Rachael Julien (Brockton, Mass.) added ten digs.

The Wildcats under the helm of first year coach Pat Annecchiarico fall to 1-0, while Pine Manor is now 1-0.  Bay Path travels to Mass. Maritime next Saturday, September 10th for a tri-match also facing Curry starting at 1:00 p.m.
