Bay Path Women’s Basketball Falls to NECC Rival Becker 68-32

Armstead and Bassett Score in Double Figures for the Wildcats

HOLYOKE, Mass. – Despite 13 points from freshman guard Shameria Armstead (Brenham, Texas) and 10 points from junior forward Haleigh Bassett (Millers Falls, Mass.), the Bay Path University women's basketball team dropped a 68-32 decision to New England Collegiate Conference rival Becker College Tuesday night at the Bartley Center.

Bassett added six rebounds, while Armstead recorded a game-high five assists for the Wildcats.

Also turning in strong performances for Bay Path were Samantha Drapinski who grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to go with two points and freshman Kaleigh Hart (Wethersfield, Conn.) who chipped in seven points and six boards. Senior forward B Rogers (Plymouth, Mass.) also grabbed four rebounds, while junior guard Joanne Nazario (Springfield, Mass.) tallied three caroms and three assists.

Becker was paced by sophomore guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass.) who scored a game-high 14 points, while junior forward Clara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) and sophomore forward Sarah Ware (Oakham, Mass.) added eight points apiece.  Sophomore guard Mariah Triplett (Coral Springs, Fla.) contributed seven points and three steals, while sophomore guard Kelsey Maynard (Millville, Mass.) managed six points and four boards,

The Hawks sprinted out to a quick 21-6 edge after the first quarter, before extending the lead to 33-12 at halftime.  Becker extended its lead to 57-25 after three periods, before riding a 9-7 fourth quarter to close out the scoring at 68-32.

Becker outshot the Wildcats 39.4% to 32.5% from the field, while also claiming a 42-30 edge in rebounds. Bay Path registered a 23-22 advantage in defensive rebounds.

Following the semester break, Bay Path (0-8 overall, 0-2 NECC) returns to action on Saturday, January 6 with a 1:00 p.m. contest against conference foe Lesley. Becker (4-3 overall, 2-0 NECC) takes to the court on Thursday, December 7 for a non-conference matchup at Colby.
