Regis Remains Unbeaten in NECC Play defeating Bay Path 84-45

HOLYOKE, Mass. – Junior forward Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) scored a game-high 23 points on nine-of-11 shooting and pulled down a game-best 13 rebounds as the Regis College women's basketball team remained unbeaten in New England Collegiate Conference play with an 84-45 win over Bay Path UniversityThursday night in the Bartley Center. 


Senior guard Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) led all Bay Path scorers with 13 points along with seven rebounds.  Senior guard Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) added nine points for the Wildcats, all on three-pointers, while senior forward Paige Marshall (New Britain, Conn.) flirted with a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.


Regis (14-6 overall, 13-0 NECC) also received double-digit scoring efforts from senior guard Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) and sophomore guard Melissa Rogers (Billerica, Mass.), who collected 15 and 11 points, respectively.


The game was a tight affair through the first quarter, as Regis clung to a 16-14 lead after the first 10 minutes of action.  The Pride outscored Bay Path 24-7 in the second quarter to take a 40-21 lead at the intermission.

Regis outscored the Wildcats 21-6 in the third frame to extend its lead to 61-27, before using a 23-18 fourth quarter to seal the victory.

The Pride shot 49.3% from the field (35-for-71) and 53.8% from three-point range (7-for-13).  Bay Path shot 29.2 % from the floor (19-for-65) and 33.3% from long range (5-for-15).  Regis also claimed a 52-35 edge in rebounds. 


Both teams return to action against NECC rivals Saturday at 1:00 p.m., as Bay Path (2-15, 1-11) visits Daniel Webster, while Regis travels to Newbury.
