Doherty selected to take over Lacrosse program at Bay Path

LONGMEADOW, Mass. - Bay Path Athletic Director Steve Smith announces the hiring of a new Women's Lacrosse coach for the 2016 season.  A recent graduate of Western New England University, Erin Doherty makes her collegiate head coaching debut. 
 

Doherty a goalie played all four years the Golden Bears winning three ECAC Championships and a  regular season title.

After graduating with a B.S. in Sport Management, Doherty completed her M.B.A. also at WNEU. 

She spent a year as an assistant coach at Saint Anselm College, a DII team which became nationally ranked.  Doherty returned to Western New England for the past three years to help with coaching, recruiting and programs designed to help first year college students adapt to their new community.

The Wildcats return seven student-athletes including five starters. Leading the way are sophomores, Kaylee Herring, Elena Helming and Caryn Piacenti.

"I am so excited to be a part of the Bay Path family and to lead 17 talented and committed student-athletes to reach their goals this season.  The atmosphere of the campus starts with the devoted faculty and staff at Bay Path and extends to the surrounding lacrosse community.  I look forward to having he opportunity to build a competitve program. I am so thankful to everyone in the athletics department and administration at Bay Path for giving me this opportunity."
