Bay Path Falls 12-10 in Tough Fought Battle to Albertus Magnus

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Sophomore Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) recorded the game high nine goals and tops the fledgling programs all-time single game record for most goals scored for the Wildcats of Bay Path. The Falcons pulled off a 12-10 upset in the final three minutes of play garnering Albertus Magnus' first win on the season, despite a first half lead of 4-2 by the Wildcats.

Sophomore Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) and freshman Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) each tallied four goals apiece for the Falcons. Luna also chipped in two assists.

At 17:35 in the second half, sophomore Alex Chan (Monroe, N.Y.) knotted the game eight all. Sarr responded five minutes later taking the lead for Albertus Magnus 9-to-8.

Helming tied it up at 6:02 on the clock after a free-position shot. Sarr again found the back of the net at 5:02 for the Falcons. Helmig answered knotting the game 10-to-10 with under four minutes left.

Despite an amazing scoring effort by Helmig, the Falcons scored two more times with senior Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) scoring the game winner at 3:28 on the clock. Luna added one more insurance goal for Albertus Magnus at 1:39 on the clock.

Freshman Megan McKenna (Bennington, Vt.) scored the only other goal for the Wildcats.

Albertus Magnus outshot the Wildcats 21-18, while Bay Path held a 14-6 edge in ground balls.

Bay Path freshman Milan Lytle (Washington, D.C.) registered seven. Albertus Magnus freshman Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) also registered seven saves.

Bay Path (0-7) will host a NECC match against Daniel Webster on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start, while Albertus Magnus (1-8) will travel to Norwich on Saturday, April 16th for a GNAC game.
