MITCHELL TOPS BAY PATH IN NECC LACROSSE ACTION 21-2

 

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Six different Mariners found the back of the net to lead Mitchell College to a 21-2 victory over Bay Path University in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's lacrosse action at Ryan Field.

Bay Path scored a season-best two goals, with junior Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) notching an unassisted goal with 24:25 to play in the first half and sophomore Kaylee Herring (Worcester, Vt.) depositing an unassisted tally with 5:09 to play in the contest.

Junior Ashley Murtha (South Windsor, Conn.) paced Mitchell with six goals, while freshman Kate McCormack (Narragansett, R.I.) added five.  Junior Heather Schall (Hopatcong, N.J.), junior Amanda Rowan (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and senior Katie McBride (Birmingham, England) each scored three goals, while freshman Francesca Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) chipped in one.

Senior Samantha Ryan (Quaker Hill, Conn.) tallied a game-high six saves for Mitchell. Freshman Milan Lytle (Washington, D.C.) and sophomore Bethany Rogers (Plymouth, Mass.) each played one half in net for Bay Path and logged three saves and one save, respectively.

Bay Path freshman Anna Austin (Stafford Springs, Conn.) led all players with three ground balls, while Rogers registered a team-high two caused turnovers in the first half before moving to goalkeeper for the game's final period.

Mitchell outshot the Wildcats 28-9, while Bay Path claimed an 11-8 edge in ground balls.

NECC play continues on Saturday, as Bay Path (0-3. 0-2 NECC) will visit Wheelock at noon, while Mitchell entertains Elms (2-2, 1-0 NECC) at 3:30 p.m.
