Becker Tops Bay Path 18-1 in Women’s Lacrosse

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Seniors Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, N.Y.) and Rachel Welling (Charlestown, N.H.) scored five goals apiece and eight other Hawks scored single goals to lead Becker College to an 18-1 victory over Bay Path University in a New England Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse game at Ryan Field.

Senior Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.) collected the Wildcats' only goal of the contest, burying a pass from sophomore Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) with 18:37 to play in the opening frame.

Ruyack and Welling scored four goals apiece in the first half to help Becker sprint out to a 12-1 halftime lead.  The Hawks added tallies from Ruyack, Welling and six of their teammates in the second period.

Becker outshot the Wildcats 33-3, while Bay Path held a 6-3 edge in ground balls.

Bay Path freshman Milan Lytle (Washington, D.C.) registered a game-high five saves in relief of sophomore Bethany Rogers (Plymouth, Mass.), who stopped two. Becker freshman Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) registered no saves in the winning effort.

Bay Path (0-5, 0-3 NECC) will visit Curry for a non-conference matchup Monday at 4:00 p.m., while Becker (4-8, 2-1 NECC) will travel to MCLA Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in non-league play.
