Bay Path Sweeps Elms College in Softball Action

Game 1:

Bay Path University Wildcats scored five runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat the Elms College Blazers 7-1 on Tuesday.

Madison Sunderland singled, scoring two runs, Ansley Morrison singled, scoring one run, and Alyssa Colangelo singled, scoring two runs.

Sunderland earned the win for Bay Path University. The righty gave up three hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking two.  Jenna Boudreau threw one inning of zero-run ball for Bay Path in relief. The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

Kaelyn Zakaitis took the loss for Elms College. The righty went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering seven runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking 11. 

Madison Tessmer, Grace Ramsey, Isabella Ferrara, Taylor Suffoletto, Morrison, Sunderland, Colangelo, and Emma Scheeren each collected one hit for Bay Path University Wildcats. Sunderland and Colangelo each drove in two runs for Bay Path. The Wildcats had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 11 walks for the game. Caroline Austin and Scheeren led the team with three free passes each. They were also sure-handed in the field committing no errors.

Ramsey had the most chances in the field with nine. Katie Cosmos went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Elms College Blazers in hits.

 

Game 2: 

Bay Path University Wildcats beat Elms College Blazers 4-1 on Tuesday.

Elms College Blazers opened the scoring in the first after Josie Cammarata singled, scoring one run.

Bay Path University took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Madison Tessmer was struck by a pitch, and Emma Scheeren walked, each scoring one run.

Isabella Ferrara earned the win for Bay Path. The righty gave up five hits and one run over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Jill Dykema took the loss for Elms College. The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking four. Alyssa Kreischer tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Bay Path University in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Madison Sunderland led Bay Path University with two runs batted in. Leadoff hitter Scheeren led Bay Path with two hits in three at bats. The Wildcats showed patience at the plate, amassing four walks for the game.

Katie Cosmos, Cammarata, Amanda Raymond, Keira Stevens, and Kaelyn Zakaitis each collected one hit for Elms College. Cammarata led Elms College  with one run batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day.

Bay Path University welcomes MCLA on Wednesday for a pair of games starting at 3 & 5 pm.
