Bay Path Sweeps NHTI in Softball Action

Game one: 

Bay Path University Wildcats defeated New Hampshire Technical Institute 13-1 on Sunday in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

Bay Path University won thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning. Caroline Austin singled, scoring one run, Grace Ramsey singled, scoring two runs, Madison Tessmer singled, scoring one run, Madison Darling induced Emma Scheeren to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Madisyn Vera drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

The Wildcats scored six runs on nine hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Madison Sunderland homered to left field, scoring three runs, Ansley Morrison singled, scoring one run, Austin singled, scoring one run, and Hannah Cronin drew a walk, scoring one run.

Sunderland stepped in the circle first for Bay Path University Wildcats. The righty allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out six and walking none. Darling opened the game for New Hampshire Technical Institute. The starting pitcher surrendered 12 hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Jenna Boudreau pitched one inning of shutout ball for Bay Path University in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

The Wildcats collected 18 hits in the game. Austin and Sunderland each collected three hits for Bay Path University Wildcats. Tessmer and Alyssa Colangelo each collected multiple hits for Bay Path University.  Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying four walks for the game.

Shelby O'Neal led New Hampshire Technical Institute with two hits in three at bats. 

 

Game 2: 

Bay Path University got out to a 5-run lead in the fourth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over New Hampshire Technical Institute in the second game of the doubleheaer on Sunday. New Hampshire Technical Institute closed the gap by scoring on a ground out, a single, a single, and a ground out in the seventh inning but fell short.

Bay Path University got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Caroline Austin walked, and scored on a wild pitch.  Bay Path University  extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Madisyn Vera and Taylor Suffoletto.

Jenna Boudreau earned the win for Bay Path the 1st of her collegiate career. The righty allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking four.  Alyssa Kreischer pitcher two and thrid innings in relief and Madison Sunderland entered in relief with the later picking up the save for Bay Path University.

Madison Darling took the loss for New Hampshire Technical Institute. The starter went five and one-third innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking two. Maren Rayno stepped in the circle first for New Hampshire Technical Institute. 

Isabella Ferrara had two hits and Suffoletto collected two hits and an RBI for Bay Path University. Ver and Kylie Silks each drove a run as well.

Austin paced Bay Path University Wildcats with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing four walks for the game.
