Bay Path Splits with Lesley University in Softball Action

Longmeadow, Mass.-

Game one:

Lesley University defeated Bay Path University 12-0 in game 1 on Saturday thanks in part to eight runs in the sixth inning. Lesley University added one run in the third.

MJ Jones singled, making the score 3-0.  Lesley University scored eight runs on six hits in the top of the sixth inning. Syd Cole doubled, scoring one run, Emma Hodgkins singled, scoring one run, #10 drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, #5 doubled, scoring two runs, #4 singled, scoring one run, and one run scored on another play.

Hodgkins earned the win for Lesley University. They allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two and walking two.

Isabella Ferrara took the loss for Bay Path. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits, striking out four and walking six.

Number seven hitter, Brooke Evanchak, showed the depth of Wildcats's lineup, by leading them with two hits in two at bats.

Lesley University amassed 14 hits in the game.

 

Game 2:

Bay Path University won big over Lesley University 6-0 in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday after losing game one.

The Wildcats got on the board in the second inning after Emma Scheeren singled, scoring one run.

Madison Sunderland earned the win for Bay Path. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three.  Samantha Mecklenberg took the loss for Lesley University. The starting pitcher went four innings, giving up four runs on five hits, striking out four and walking six.

Madisyn Vera provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Bay Path University with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Scheeren and Sunderland each collected two hits for Bay Path. Bay Path had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game.

Madison Tessmer and Scheeren led the team with two bases on balls each. The Wildcats didn't commit a single error in the field. Taylor Suffoletto had the most chances in the field with 10.

Bay Path University welcomes New Hampshire Technical Institute on Sunday starting at 1 pm & 2 pm.
