Bay Path Tops Wheelock in NECC Match-up

BOSTON, MA - The Wheelock College women's soccer team dropped a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) decision to Bay Path College, 5-0, on Tuesday evening under the lights of Winsor Field. The homestanding Wildcats slipped to 0-12 overall and 0-4 in the league, while the visitors improved to 4-9 and 3-3, extending their winning streak to three games.

In Wheelock's first home game since Oct. 7, and first NECC contest at Winsor Field since Oct. 2, junior Alexandra Chiesa (Medford, MA/Medford) made 13 saves while yielding only a pair of early markers prior to the 43rd minute.

Senior Jacqui Siddle (Palmer, MA/Palmer) played a hand in all but one of Bay Path's goals, turning in two markers and two assists, while freshman Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, NH/Bishop Brady) also tallied twice. Junior Janise Shabazz (New Castle, DE/William Penn) made three saves in the shutout.

Freshman Ashley Ralston (Chester, VT/Green Mountain Union) provided the eventual winner 4:36 into the contest, converting Siddle's long breakout pass. Only 2:52 later, Dougherty netted her first marker before Chiesa blanked the visitors for the next 36:23.

Siddle tallied 1:07 before halftime and then again 39 seconds after the break, slipping both shots just over Chiesa's reach and under the crossbar. Dougherty completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, touching Siddle's long pass beyond a rushing Chiesa.

Bay Path will travel to Elms College for a 7:00 pm game on Saturday.
