Wildcats Send Wells Back on Express 2-1

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—Bay Path notches their first 2010 campaign victory defeating the Express of Wells College 2-1 this afternoon in NCAA Division III women's soccer action at the Ryan Field. Senior midfielder Jacqui Siddle (Palmer, Mass.) led the Wildcats to their victory scoring the first goal and adding the assist on the game winner for Bay Path.

Bay Path took control of the game right from the start chipping in 13 shots to Wells' nine for the half. Siddle netted the first goal off a well controlled double assist cross from the outside. Freshman forward Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) crossed the ball from almost the corner of the field inside the box to senior midfielder Sara Antonacci (Somersville, Conn.) who then passed it back ten yards to Siddle at 25:21 on the clock.

Bay Path then went into the half with a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes after the break Siddle would meet Antonacci again this time allowing Antonacci the opportunity to hammer it between the sticks. This goal would prove to eventually be the game winner for the Wildcats.

Junior goalkeeper Janise Shabazz (New Castle, Del.) would have her first collegiate shut-out broken up after the Express managed to score in the 74^th minute of play. Shabazz would grab her first collegiate win with eight saves on the day facing 14 shots in total and nine on goal.

Wells' senior forward Rebecca Furman (Parkland, Fla.) netted their first and only goal off of a 2V1 situation from just outside the box. Sophomore forward Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y.) would tally the assist for the Express.

Junior goalie Rachel Mattraw (Chaumont, N.Y.) suffered the loss giving up two goals, while posting seven saves for the day.

Bay Path is now 1-5 on the season, while Wells falls to 1-5-1 overall. Bay Path will be back in action travelling to NECC foe Becker College on the 25^th for a 1:30 p.m. game.
