Dougherty Leads the Wildcats in a 3-0 Sweep of NECC Mountaineers

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe the Bay Path College Wildcats Saturday afternoon at Everett Field.

Bay Path's freshman forward Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) had two goals to lead the Wildcats. She tops the Wildcats in scoring for the season with seven points.

The Wildcats go the ball rolling right out of the gate with a goal by freshman midfielder Sarah Azevedo (East Longmeadow, Mass.). Azevedo who netted the eventual game winner now follows Dougherty on the team with five points along with senior midfielder Jacqui Siddle (Palmer, Mass.).

Mountaineer freshman keeper Catrina Cecchini nabbed 25 saves on the day to bring her season total to 213.

Siddle assisted Dougherty on both her goals, as the Wildcats outshot SVC 39-3. Dougherty knocked the second goal of the game at five minutes on the clock. She then repeated the action ay 10:06 on the clock with a header this time.

Bay Path is now 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the NECC, while Southern Vermont falls to a 0-10 record and 0-3 in conference play.

Junior goalkeeper Janise Shabazz (New Castle, Del.) celebrated her first collegiate shut-out with three saves.
