LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Freshman forward Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) lifts the Wildcats of Bay Path University in the 98th minute of single overtime action with the lone goal over Fitchburg State. Fellow freshman defender Kaitlyn Hackett (Ludlow, Mass.) dished Helming the ball to notch the Wildcats first victory on the season. Helming led the way with five shots, four of which were on goal.
Sophomore keeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) recorded the shut-out facing 18 shots with eight saves in her 97:26 minutes of play, including a PK attempt by the Falcons' sophomore defender Samantha Zina (Abington, Mass.).
The Falcons' senior goalie Kelsey Ford (Franconia, N.H.) suffered the loss facing nine shots, six of which were on goal.
Bay Path is now 1-2 on the season, while Fitchburg State is now 0-3. Bay Path will be on the road on Wednesday, September 10th for a 4:00 p.m. match against Albertus Magnus.
