Bay Path Falls 8-1 in Season Opener at WNEC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Bay Path senior Julia Bendzin (Poestenkill, NY) took the number one singles match 7-5, 6-0. Bendzin and junior partner Carolina Ynguanzo (Springfield, Mass.) fell 8-4 in Number one doubles action.

Golden Bear Senior co-captain Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) won both her number one doubles and number two singles matches as the Western New England College women's tennis team topped visiting Bay Path 8-1 in the season opener for both squads Thursday (Sept. 3).

Ayers teamed with sophomore Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) for an 8-4 win in doubles action, then posted a 6-0, 6-1 in her singles match.

Senior Kelly Murnane (Cheshire, CT), junior Ashley Czelatka (Southington, NY), and sophomore Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) also captured both their doubles and singles events.
