Athletics: Fall Season Wildcat Wrap-up

This fall athletics season has marked many ups and downs as are usual for the world of athletics. With the end of the season All-NECC Conference Selections and awards out, several of our Bay Path Wildcats were honored.
#3 Bay Path Concludes Season with a 3-0 Loss to #2 Newbury in NECC Semifinal Action

BENNINGTON, Vt.- The Newbury College Nighthawks won 3-0 over Bay Path College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semi-finals Friday evening, at the Mountaineer Athletic Center on the campus of Southern Vermont. The second seeded Nighthawks will meet the overall number one seed Southern Vermont, Saturday at 2:00PM for the NECC Championship. In all three sets, the Nighthawks won by scores of 25-20. In the first set Newbury used a strong attack game, as they hit .312 with 15 kills. For the match Newbury hit .211 while the Wildcats of Bay Path hit .077.
#3 Bay Path Advances to NECC Semifinals Defeating #6 Regis 3-2

HOLYOKE, Mass.- In true New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Volleyball Championships fashion the host #3 Bay Path College came back for a 3-2 victory over conference newcomer #6 Regis College tonight at the Bartley Center in NECC quarterfinal actions. This is the second meeting of the teams were they took the match to five with Regis winning the regular season in five. Tonight the Wildcats prevailed after staging a comeback falling in the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20 and winning the next three 25-19, 25-21 and 15-10.
Bay Path Succumbs to Southern Vermont 3-0

HOLYOKE, Mass.- Senior outside hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the Wildcats with eight kills and eleven digs in a tough 3-0 loss to New England Collegiate (NECC) leader Southern Vermont tonight. Harkless and senior outside hitter Vanessa Chaplin (Attleboro, Mass.) were honored in their final regular season home match for their four year collegiate careers. Game scores were 25-10, 25-13 and 25-15.
Wildcats Fall Short 3-2 Against Pride

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women’s volleyball team fought off a scrappy Bay Path College squad, 3-2,on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference volleyball action in Weston, Mass. The Pride needed set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 15-25, 15-11 to defeat the Wildcats. Regis improves to 8-16 overall and 4-3 in the NECC with the win while Bay Path drops to 12-9 and 4-2 in league play.
Wildcats Continue Streak with Major Conference Win over Daniel Webster

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Wildcats continue their four match winning streak defeating both the 2010 and 2009 NECC women’s volleyball champions in Lesley last week and Daniel Webster tonight 3-1. Bay Path quickly took the lead taking the first two games 25-17 and 25-23. The Eagles prevented the three game sweep winning the third game 25-18, with a heated fourth game battle of the Wildcats taking the match point 26-24.
Wildcats March Past Colonels 3-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Women's Volleyball team put forth a competitive effort against visiting Bay Path College, but fell short with a 3-1 final on Friday evening in Milton. The set scores were 28-26, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-20. The Wildcats improved to 11-8, while the Colonels fell to 4-15.
Bay Path Wages 3-1 Comeback over Mitchell

HOLYOKE, Mass.- Senior outside hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the Wildcats in a 3-1 victory over New England Collegiate Conference opponent Mitchell College after falling 25-17 in the first game with a match high .375 attack percentage totaling 17 kills. Bay Path took did not look back after taking game two 25-8, finishing 25-21 and 25-20 to their third conference victory this season in NCAA Division III women’s volleyball action.
Wildcats Stage Huge 3-2 Comeback Over Lynx

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Bay Path College came back from a 2-0 deficit and twice fought off match point in a hard-fought 18-16 fifth set victory in earning a 3-2 road win over Lesley University Saturday afternoon at the Nicholas Athletics Center in New England Collegiate Conference women’s volleyball play.

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Wildcats fell 3-1 to New England Collegiate Conference rival the Nighthawks of Newbury tonight at the Bartley Center in NCAA DIII women’s volleyball action. The Nighhawks took the first two games 25-22 and 25-12, while Bay Path came back to win the third game 25-21 only to fall in the fourth set 25-12. Senior outside hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) and junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) were the only players to notch double doubles for the match.
Bay Path Sweeps Through Tri-Match Against Becker and Mass Maritime

Leicester, Mass. – The Becker women’s volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Saturday against the visiting Wildcats of Bay Path College and the Buccaneers of the Massachusetts Maritime academy. Bay Path defeated host Becker 3-0 and Mass Maritime 3-0.
Lancers Cut Wildcats Four Match Winning Streak

HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Lancers of Worcester State break up a match winning streak for the Wildcats defeating Bay Path 3-0 tonight at the Bartley Center in regional women’s volleyball action. Worcester State took all three games 25-10, 25-19 and 25-16.

Wildcats Take Two at Bard Tri-Match

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Bay Path was the only team to win both matches today in the Bard College Tri-Match. Host Bard fell 3-0 to Manhattanville College in the opening match (25-18, 25-19 and 25-18). Bay Path then took Manhattanville 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 25-17, 25-21), while finishing off the day shutting down Bard 3-0 (25-20, 25-18 and 25-22).
Wildcats Clip Falcons Wings in 3-0 Home Victory

HOLYOKE, Mass.— Senior middle hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) and junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) led the Wildcats in a 3-0 victory tonight over the Falcons of Albertus Magnus in their first home match of the 2011 season. In NCAA DIII regional volleyball action, the Wildcats notched their first home stand win in over five years sweeping the Falcons 25-23, 25-15 and 26-24.
Bay Path Splits with Anna Maria and Castleton

PAXTON, Mass.—In a tri-match hosted by Anna Maria College Bay Path split the day narrowly falling to the host AmCats 3-2 (25-23, 12-25, 14-25, 25-11 and 12-15) while sweeping the Castleton State Spartans in three easy games (25-18, 25-13, 16). Senior middle hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the way for the day hitting .314 with 22 kills, seven blocks, six aces and five block solos.
