Elms Shuts Down Bay Path 3-0 in NECC Women’s Soccer Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass. - Bay Path falls 3-0 to Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action today at Ryan Field. The Blazers controlled most of the match with three players notching unassisted goals.

Sophomore forward Jennifer Killion (Cambridge, Mass.) quickly put the Blazers on the board scoring very early in the second minute at 1:52 on the clock dribbling the ball from 20 yards back unassisted. The first goal would eventual become the game winner for Elms' Killion.

Bay Path's senior goalkeeper Samantha Gunseth (Swanzey, N.H.) was able to keep the Wildcats in the game for the next sixty five minute of play. Despite the three goals against, Gunseth had an amazing 14 saves, with her back line notching a team save as well.

In the 68th minute, senior forward Kelsey Battige (Monson, Mass.) notched an insurance goal for Elms. Battige notched her first goal on the season.

The Blazers would finish up their scoring in the 71st minute with sophomore key reservist Laura Boone (Chicopee, Mass.) would net her first goal in the 2009 campaign.

Elms would finish with 33 shots to Bay Path's one. Freshman forward Katelyn Dupuis (Chicopee, Mass.) took the Wildcats lone shot of the day.

Freshman keeper Molly Corse (Bernardston, Mass.) was awarded the win for the Blazers.

Elms is now 5-7-1 on the season and 3-1 in the NECC, while Bay Path falls to 1-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Both teams will host NECC matches at 4:00 p.m. on October 14 with Elms facing Newbury and Bay Path Wheelock.
