Bison Stampedes Past Wildcats 8-2

LONGMEADOW, Mass.-Junior forward Jacqui Siddle (Palmer, Mass.) notched two goals for the Wildcats breaking up a shut-out for the Bison. Bay Path College fell 8-2 against Nichols College in NCAA Division III women's soccer action today at Ryan Field.

The Falcons struck first when senior midfielder Lindsey Barbo(Natick, Mass.) drove the ball into the box for an unassisted goal.  The Wildcats' Siddle answered back in the 22nd minute with an amazing shot after a misplay by the Falcons' defender from 30 yards back.

With the score knotted 1-1 the duo of freshman forward Samantha Abro (Northborough, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn DiBuono (Auburn, Mass.) found the net three more times consecutively including the game winner for Nichols.  Abro notched her hat-trick in the first half and would later add another goal for a total of eight points.

Coming out of the break with the scoreboard favoring the Bison 4-1, Nichols found the back of the net in the 53rd minute of play.  Junior midfielder Holly Ventura (Hudson , Mass.) scored off a cross from the left side from sophomore forward Chelsea Shaughnessy (Halifax, Mass.).

Siddle would then score again after Abro's final shot. Wildcat junior forward Sandra Caldas (Leal Da Camara, PT) would feed the ball from midfield to Siddle for the long shot.

Bison starting keeper junior Nicole Johnson (Westhampton, Mass.) would grab 70 minutes in goal and later return to play at forward, Johnson allowed both goals and was also able to score the final two points for the Bison. Freshman reservist Jessica Brasil (Methuen, Mass.) had the assist. Johnson would also score the final goal off a pass from sophomore defender Kelly Gilbert (Blackstone, Mass.)

Bay Path's senior keeper Samantha Gunseth  (Swanzey, N.H.) suffered the loss despite 18 saves for her 90 minutes of effort.

Nichols is now 4-3 on the season while Bay Path is now 1-4 overall. The Wildcats will be back in action on September 24th on the road facing Trinity at a 4:00 p.m. start.
