Bay Path Falls to Trinity in Women's Soccer

HARTFORD, Conn. - Three players scored two goals apiece as the Trinity College Bantams defeated the Bay Path College Wildcats 9-0 in women's soccer action on Campus Field this afternoon.  The Bantams improve to 1-1-2 on the season while the Wildcats fall to 1-5.

Despite allowing nine goals, Bay Path senior goalkeeper Samantha Gunseth (Swanzey, N.H.) was able to stop 16 of Trinity's 42 shots, including fifteen in the first half.

Senior tri-captain Caitlin Prendergast (Braintree, Mass.), junior Caroline Washburne (Medfield, Mass.), and sophomore Kristen Ramsay (Glastunbury, Conn.) anchored a Trinity defense that allowed no shots in the game, giving sophomore goalkeeper Lily Pepper (Princeton Junction, N.J.) an easy shutout, the third of four games this season in which Trinity has not allowed a goal.

Junior Emily Weedon (Wellesley, Mass.) scored her first two collegiate career goals in the win, while sophomores Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) and Leigh Howard (Bethany, Conn.) also added two goals apiece to lead the offense, which before this afternoon had scored just one goal on the season.  Howard, who leads the team with eight points early in the year, also had two assists in the game.
