Hawks Tame Wildcats

 

LEICESTER, Mass- Becker received hat tricks from Stephanie Dixon(Rockport, Mass) and Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn), as the Hawks defeated Bay Path 7-1 in women's field hockey action.

The Hawks started their scoring attack 2:40 into the game when Stephanie Dixon redirected a Jessica Provencher (Berwick, ME) pass into the back of the net. Freshman Brooke Cote (Fitchburg, Mass) scored her ninth goal of the season at 12:20 of the first half. The goal would prove to be the eventual game winner. Stephanie Dixon and Victoria Sirchia each had goals before the end of the half, making the score 4-0.

Stephanie Dixon completed her hat trick 9:30 into the second half on an assist from Sirchia, making the score 5-0.  Sirchia followed Dixon's hat trick with one of her own, scoring two unassisted goals in less than five minutes.

Bay Path finally broke through the Becker defense when Molly O'Brien-Moore (Springfield, Mass) scored her second goal of the season on an assist from Racquela Richard (Providence, RI).

Bay Path goalkeeper Samantha Berrios (Manhattan, NY) made seven saves in the loss. The Wildcats fell to 0-12 overall and 0-7 in the NECC.

Nakita Gosselin (Springfield, VT) made three saves to earn her tenth win of the season. With the win the Hawks finished the regular season with perfect record in the NECC (8-0) for the second straight season. Becker is now 11-7 overall.
