Wheelock boxes out win over visiting Bay Path
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Three Wildcat players hit double -digits Tuesday night as Wheelock College defeated Bay Path College 47-38 in New England Collegiate Conference action. Senior Elise Ordile (Waltham, Mass.) led all scores with 13 points, while fellow senior captains Sarah Brown (Plainville, Conn.) and Kerry Casey each netted ten points.
The win improves Wheelock's record to 3-5 in the NECC and 4-13
overall, while Bay Path falls to 4-14 overall and 1-9 in the
conference. Wheelock is currently tied with Newbury College for
sixth place in the NECC.
Bay Path jumped out to the lead early, taking a seven point
advantage on a jumper by Christina Calabrese
(Hamilton, NJ). But the home Wildcats responded with ten unanswered
points, highlighted by a pair of baskets from senior Kerry Casey.
Despite the slow start, Wheelock would not trail again.
Wheelock freshman Keneisha Milton (Boston, Mass.)
led the charge on the board for head coach Brooke Freeburg, pulling
down a game-high 13 rebounds as Wheelock out-rebounded Bay Path
47-35 and kept Bay Path star Jessica Hunt(Madison,
Conn.) to ten rebounds and nine points for the night. Hunt kept her
team in the game in other ways however, with three blocks and a
game-high seven steals. Brittney Alexander
(Enfield, Conn.) led Bay Path with 12 points.
Bay Path is next in action February 9 at Mitchell College.
