Women’s Basketball Falls to Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn Host Albertus Magnus defeated Bay Path 90-58 on Saturday in NCAA DIII Regional women's basketball action. Junior forward Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior guard Justine Hook (Berwick, Penn.) led the Wildcats with both scoring 14 points. Albertus improves to 6-0 on the year, while the Wildcats fall to 2-3.

Skiffington added seven rebounds, while Hook had five assists and five boards. Coming off the bench for the Wildcats, freshman guard Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) added 13 points for the Wildcats.

 Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) recorded eight points and 14 rebounds to go along with a career-high 10 blocked shots. Pendagast, who recorded eight blocks in the first half, fouled out of the contest just two points shy of a triple-double. Junior Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) led all scorers with 26 points as she scored 23 of her 26 points in the first half on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor.

The Falcons opened today's contest with a 19-5 run before the Wildcats got to within seven at 25-18 with 7:25 left in the first half. The Falcons answered back and continued to extend their lead. Their largest lead of the game of 37 points came at the 5:10 mark of the second frame.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) scored 16 points for the Falcons in 25 minutes of work as the Falcons shot 44.7% from the floor in the contest. Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) added 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Bay Path shot 26.6% from the floor, including a 5-of-11 clip from behind the arc, while the Wildcats shot 19-of-29 from the free-throw line.
