Bay Path Wins First game of 2013 Downing NECC Rival Wheelock 60-50

HOLYOKE, Mass.--- The Wildcats of Bay Path defeated New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe Wheelock 60-50 in women's basketball action tonight winning their third straight game. Two Maroon Wildcats led the way each scoring 11 points including junior forward Kayla Skiffngton (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore point guard Toni Alexander (Enfield, Conn.).

Skiffington also had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Toni Alexander finished with nine boards and seven assists. Wheelock's senior guard Kaneisha Milton (Boston, Mass.) tallied a triple double sparking her team all night with a game high 23 points, eleven rebounds and 12 steals.

Bay Path held the lead most of the game other than an early lead by the Wheelock Wildcats.  Bay Path's strength came in their inside game making great passes inside the paint scoring 38 of their points under the basket. All eight Bay Path players spread the scoring with newcomer senior Jessica Santiago (Chicopee, Mass.) tallying ten points and five rebounds.

Bay Path advances to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Wheelock remains winless with a 0-9 overall record and 0-3 in the NECC. Both teams play Thursday, January 10th with Bay Path travelling to face Newbury at a 6:00 p.m. tip-off while Wheelock hosts Daniel Webster at a 5:30 p.m. start.
