Bay Path falls to Daniel Webster in Women's Hoops Action

NASHUA, N.H. –  Daniel Webster  held off Bay Path with a key late second half stretch to down the Wildcats, 63-45 in a NECC matchup Saturday at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Kayla Skiffington (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) led Bay Path with 15 points whileBrittney Alexander (Enfield, Conn.) added 10 points and 13 rebounds off the bench. Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) added nine points and six boards, while Toni Alexander (Enfield) had seven points, six rebounds and a game-best five steals.

Vanessa Bosques (Windham, Conn.) continued her torrid scoring pace of late, notching 36 points for the second straight outing and connected on seven three pointers along with a game high 13 rebounds

Bosques, who has averaged 33.7 points over her last three outings, hit for at least seven treys for the third straight time, after knocking down eight in her previous two games. She finished 13 of 27 from the field, was 7 of 16 from downtown and picked up two assists and a steal.

Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, N.H.) notched eight points, nine rebounds and four assists for the hosts, while Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) had six points and four assists.

DWC led 27-25 after a back and forth first half and clung to a five-point lead (41-36) with 8:31 to play after the Wildcats had chipped away at a 10-point deficit.

But Bosques buried a three and later added one at the line helping push the lead back to 10 with 6:20 left.

A free throw from Brittney Alexander and a jumper from Toni Alexander cut it back to seven with 5:45 left but Bosques went to work again, burying a three, and converted three straight layups, on DWC's next four possessions.

Emily Travis (Somerset, Mass.) followed from inside and an England layup all combined with five straight misses from the Wildcats to give DWC a 20-point edge (59-39) all in the span of just 3:33, sealing the victory. DWC would close the game on a 17-6 run over that final 5:45.

The win was the fourth straight for the Eagles after a 0-8 start. DWC (4-8) also moved to 4-1 in NECC play while halting Bay Path's (6-5, 3-2 NECC) four-game win streak.

The Eagles are off until Tuesday when they visit Regis College in a NECC matchup at 5:30 p.m. Bay Path hosts NECC foe Becker on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
