Wildcats Fall 67-43 to Nighthawks on Pink Out Day

HOLYOKE, Mass. – Despite Punxsutawney Phil predicting an early spring, the Wildcats unfortunately saw too much shadow today on the court falling 67-43 to the Nighthawks of Newbury College. With the win Newbury is 11-9 overall and 9-4 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play, while Bay Path falls to 9-10 and 6-7 in conference play. The Wildcats held their Pink Out Day today at the game helping to raise money for the cause.

Freshman guard Katelyn Roeser (Nashau, N.H.) was on fire from the arc making 18 of her 20 of her points on treys. Roeser went 6-for-10 from downtown.
Senior center Catherine O'Connell (Quincy, Mass.) was a force under the basket notching 21 rebounds. She was the only player of the game with a double double chipping in 17 points.

Bay Path was led by junior forward Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scoring 13 points and the game-high three blocks. She also added six rebounds. Defensively sophomore center Gladys Reed (Hamden, Conn.) was one point shy of a double double pulling down 12 rebounds and adding nine points.

Junior guard Justine Hook (Berwick, Penn.) had two treys finishing with six points.

Newbury took advantage of put backs scoring 22 points off of offensive boards. Newbury finished with 20 offensive rebounds to Bay Path's 11 for the game.

Both teams host NECC games on Tuesday, February 5th with the Nighthawks hosting Wheelock at 7:00 p.m., while the Wildcats host Southern Vermont in an 8:00 tip-off.
