Blue Jays Fly Past Wildcats

LONGMEADOW, Mass.-  Bay Path hosted the University of St. Joseph today in regional women's soccer action falling 8-0 at Ryan Field.  Sophomore goalie Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) suffered the loss giving up five goals in the first thirty minutes of play. She faced eight shots and had three saves. Sophomore keeper Nicole Ogden (Springfield, Mass.) had ten saves facing 21 shots allowing three goals.

St. Joe's freshman midfielder Sara Barnick (Watertown, Conn) led the way for the BlueJays scoring the quick first goal 22 seconds into the start. She would repeat her action about eight minutes later. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, Barnick's first goal would become the eventual game winner.  The Blue Jays would spread it out throughout the 90 minutes of play scoring six more goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Melissa Dodge (Watertown, Conn.) finished with two saves picking up the victory for her 75 minutes of play and would combine with freshman bench keeper Tara Kowalski (Colchester, Conn.) for the shutout.

The Blue Jays are now 3-1, while Bay Path falls to 0-3-1. The Wildcats will host Mount Ida on Saturday, September 15th at a 1:00 p.m. start.
