Bay Path Defeated by Mariners in Pink Out Match

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The "Pretty in Pink" Wildcats despite a valiant effort fell 2-1 to the Mariners of Mitchell College in their final home stand in another New England Collegiate Conference(NECC) match today at Ryan Field. The Wildcats sported pink uniforms for their Pink Out match supporting October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Mitchell struck first in the 10th minute of play when sophomore forward Alexandra Charles (Massapequa, N.Y.)  found the back of the net on a cross up the middle by senior midfielder Malorie Klieber (Wantagh, N.Y.).

The Mariners would score again seven minutes later at 16:37 on the clock with freshman midfielder launching one past sophomore keeper Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) after a foul and a free kick.

After a handball in the net for the Mariners, Bay Path broke up the shut-out when junior midfielder Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) scored on a penalty kick.

Unfortunately for Bay Path, this would prove to be their only goal despite controlling most of the second half offensively. The Wildcats had 16 shots, five on goal to Mitchell's four shots for the match.

Rhodes would suffer the loss, with sophomore Nicole Ogden (Springfield, Mass.) splitting due between the sticks. Junior goalkeeper Kaylee Woodford (Niantic, Conn.) picked up the win with four saves.

Bay Path concludes their regular season at 3-12-2 and 2-7 in conference play. Mitchell is now 4-9-0 overall and 4-5 in the NECC.
