The Pride Conquer the Wildcats in NECC Action 5-0



LONGMEADOW, Mass.-The Wildcats of Bay Path hosted the  Pride of Regis College in another New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer match-up this wet and chilly fall afternoon on the Ryan Field to a 5-0 loss for host  Bay Path.  The Pride's Michelle Sirois (Easton, Mass.) led the attack for the Pride tallying two goals and two assists.  Bay Path's tag-team goalkeepers of sophomore Nicole Ogden (Springfield, Mass.) and Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) came away with a combined six saves facing 18 shots on the game.

Senior forward Michelle Sirois (Easton, Mass.) found the back of the net first for the Pride at 10:09 on the clock.  Junior defender Tess McLean (West Roxbury, Mass.)  chipped the second ball passed Bay Path's starting keeper Ogden after attempted wide shot by Sirois who was awarded the assist.

The third goal came at 40:47 in the first half with Sirios again driving the ball for an unassisted goal.  Sirois again had her foot in the fourth and final goal of the half at 41:37 with a well-executed cross to freshman midfielder Devinne Aquadro (Sturbridge, Mass.).

Bay Path managed a strong second half defense with reserve goalkeeper Rhodes up until about two minutes remaining when sophomore defender Jackie Rocheville (Salem, Mass.) found the back of the net the final time for the Pride.Sophomore defender Kara Donovan (Woburn, Mass.) recorded the assist.

Bay Path's sophomore midfielder Nicole Crossman (Winsted, Conn.) and junior forward Melina Isdith (Rego Park, N.Y.) each tallied two shots.

Ogden (1-4) suffered the loss allowing four goals including the first which was the game winner. The Pride's goalkeeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.) notched the shut-out with two saves facing five shots.

Bay Path is now 2-5-1 overall and 1-1-0 in NECC play, while Regis advances to 4-1-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in league play. The Wildcats will host Lesley on October, 3rd at 4:00 p.m. Regis will host travel to Mitchell October, 6th for a 1:00 p.m. start both NECC bouts.
