Lyons Roar Past Wildcats

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path College fell 9-0 to Mount Holyoke in regional women's soccer action today at Ryan Field. The Lyons were led by sophomore forward Hannah Yee (Amherst, Mass.) tallying nine points including the first four goals while chipping in an assist.  Yee would manage her first hat trick of the season.

Yee would score the first goal off a Bay Path deflection at 16:39 on the clock. She wouldn't stop for the next twenty minutes. Her second goal came two minutes later again managing to find the back of the net while pulling Bay Path's keeper Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I) on a IVI play with senior midfielder Mallory Phaneuf (Manchester, N.H.) recording the assist.

She would make the next two goals in the 33rd minute of play with the third goal sailing past Rhodes in the upper corner and notching her final goal of the day driving the ball right off the whistle feeding it to sophomore midfielder Tori Shaffrey (Charlottesville, Va.) who crossed the ball right back to Yee for the fourth goal.

Coming off the bench, sophomore midfielder Kara Singleton (South Hiram, Maine) would score the final goal of the half at 42:55 on the clock off a cross by junior midfielder Katie Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass.).

The Lyons would score four more goals in the second half managing to shut-down the Wildcats. Bay Path was unable to make an offensive run with only one shot on the day coming from junior defender Rachael Barber (Lynn, Mass.).

Rhodes (1-2-1) suffered the loss facing 28 shots, 16 on goal, made seven saves for her 90:00 minutes of play. Lyons' sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Randall (Harwinton, Conn.) picked up the win finishing with no saves.

Yee again came out on fire dishing the sixth goal at the 53rd minute mark to freshman midfielder Patricia Walchessen (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) for the goal.

Phaneuf would take part in another goal scoring her first and the teams seventh at 54th minute.  Freshman reservist Ally Madden (Bridgewater, Mass.) would tally the final two back-to-back goals for the Lyons. Singleton would have the assist on the eighth goal.

Both teams would finish the day with 2-5-1 records. Bay Path will be back in action hosting Regis on Saturday, September 29th at a 2:00 p.m. conference battle, while Mount Holyoke travels to play Wheaton at 1:00 p.m. also on Saturday.
