Wildcats Fall 5-1 to Hawks

LEICESTER, Mass. - Becker College defeated Bay Path College, 5-1 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Hawks of Becker are now 4-5-2 and 2-1 in the conference standings, while the Wildcats of Bay Path drop to 2-7-1 and 1-2 in the NECC. 

Junior Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H) broke through the scoreless drought the Wildcats have had for the last three contests scoring in the final minute of play.

Senior Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) had a hat trick in the first 30 minutes as she had goals in the 16th, 23rd and 29th minutes, sandwiching a goal by freshman Jaclyn Organgio(Maynard, Mass.) 21st minute of play.

The Hawks went into halftime with a 4-0 lead. Senior Jodi Theriault(Woodstock, Conn.) scored the sole Hawk goal in the second half, with that coming in the 76th minute of the game.

Bay Path scored its sole goal of the game with just 32 seconds left on a scary play when junior Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) collided with Becker junior goalkeeper Melissa Rhodes (Mendon, Mass.). Dougherty's kick found the back of the net to prevent the shutout.
 
Becker's Rhodes finished with three saves. Bay Path sophomore goalkeeper Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.) had one save in the first half, while sophomore Nicole Ogden (Springfield, Mass.) had two in the second stanza. The Wildcat keepers combined to face 17 shots for the 90 minutes of play.
Becker is back in action on Tuesday when the Hawks host Daniel Webster at 4:00 p.m. Bay Path will take the field on Wednesday as they host Dean in a 4:00 p.m. game.
