Mustangs Gallop Past Wildcats 7-1

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Sophomore forward Melissa Toler (Paso Robles, Calif.) scored the lone goal for the Wildcats in a 7-1 loss to the Mustangs of Mount Ida today at Ryan Field in a regional women's soccer match.

The Mustangs struck first in the 14th minute of play when junior forward Brianna Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) connected with sophomore midfielder Sierra Legge (Schodack Landing, N.Y.) to break-up the scoreless play.

Six minutes later senior forward Alison Koning (Carlisle, Mass.) found the back of the net after pulling out Bay Path's sophomore keeper Nicole Ogden (Springfield, Mass.).

Toler would break up the Mustangs shut-out putting it at 2-1 on the scoreboard after a nice cross by junior defender Melina Isdith (Rego Park, N.Y.).

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they could not repeat the action and the Mustangs managed to score five more goals.

Tomaselli and Legge would again connect for their third goal only this time Tomaselli would score the goal.

Two more unassisted goals would come in the 40th and 41st minute to finish off the half putting the Mustangs up 5-1. Coming off the bench, both sophomore forward Kaitlyn Affhauser (Cheshire, Mass.) and senior midfielder Amanda Hill (Weymouth, Mass.) would both score.

Tomaselli and Hill would both nail the final two solo goals. Tomaselli would finish with two goals and an assist leading the way for the Mustangs.

Wildcats' Toler and sophomore forward Nicole Crossman (Winsted, Conn.) would each tally two shots for the day.

Ogden would finish with 15 saves facing 32 shots 22 of which were on goal. Mount Ida's starting keeper Samantha Basler (Plymouth, Mass.) would garner the win with three saves.

Bay Path is now 0-4-1 overall and Mount Ida advances to 4-2-0. Bay Path will travel to Anna Maria College on Monday, September 17th for a 6:00 p.m. match under the lights.
