Gators Defeat Wildcats 6-3

TROY, N.Y.– Bay Path travelled to New York to take on the Gators of the Sage Colleges on Sunday afternoon at Prospect Park. The Wildcats fell 6-3 to the Gators opening up the 2012 campaign with a tough loss.

Bay Path's No. 4 freshman Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.) waged a great comeback defeating junior Mary Kate Hayward (Queensbury, N.Y.) 4-6, 7-5 and a 10-5 tiebreaker set. Fellow freshman Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) defeated senior Christina Kroder (Catskill, N.Y.) 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot.

Wood and Taylor also teamed up at the No.3 doubles spot to win the only other point for the Wildcats taking Hayward and sophomore Lauren Bendall (Rome, N.Y.) 8-3.

Bay Path is now 0-1 , while Sage advances to 2-0 on the season. Bay Path will be back in action on Wednesday, September 5^th for a 4:00 match at St. Joseph (Conn.).
