Bay Path Sweeps Albertus Magnus 9-0

WEST HARTFORD, Conn.- The Wildcats for the second day straight roll through their opponents sweeping the Falcons of Albertus Magnus 9-0 today in NCAA DIII regional Tennis Action at the Blinn Tennis Courts.

Sophomore Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) beat senior Na'Tahsa Nesidor (Bridgeport, Conn.) 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot. New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) player of the week, junior No.1 player Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) defeated junior Sandybell Anorga (Stamford, Conn.) 6-2, 6-0.   The tandem of Watson and Morin also swept through No. 1 doubles 8-0.

Finishing first on the day was freshman Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.)who remains undefeated on the season winning her No. 3 singles match in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.  Freshman Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y), junior Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.)  and Abigail Janneke (Waterbury Conn.)  also won in straight sets rounding out the singles play.  
 
  Walsh and Wood paired up in the No.2 doubles shutting down the Falcons tandem of senior Gina D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) and sophomore Malika Grant (Brooklyn, N.Y.)8-0.
 
Newcomers' sophomore Renee Beamon (Northford, Conn.) and freshman Kimberly Drahushuk (Hudson, N.Y.) won 8-6 in No. 3 doubles action completing the sweep.
 
Bay Path is now 5-1 on the season, while Albertus Magnus is 1-2 overall. They will be back in action on Tuesday, September 16 hosting NECC top rival Becker College at a 3:30 p.m. match.
