Wildcats Split With Hawks, Falling 5-4

LEICESTER, Mass. –Becker College edged Bay Path this time 5-4 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's tennis action, Bay Path and Becker have now split on the season with the Wildcats edging the Hawks 5-4 earlier this season. Becker improves to 7-5 with a 5-2 record in conference while Bay Path drops to 9-3 and 4-2 in the NECC. 

Nicole Connolly (Scarborough, Maine) won 6-1, 6-0 at number one singles and teamed with Kathleen Razzaboni (Hooksett, N.H.) to take the number one singles point, 9-7 defeating junior Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) and sophomore Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.). The points proved decisive in pushing the Hawks over the top.

Razzaboni also won 6-1, 6-3 at number two singles, while Shauna Buckley (Danvers, Mass.) won 6-4, 6-0 at number six defeating sophomore Abigail Janneke (Waterbury, Conn.).

For Bay Path, Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) won 6-0, 6-2 at number three singles, while Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) fought through a 6-3, 6-4 victory at number four. Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.) won 6-4, 6-1 at number five singles.

Again, the freshman duo Walsh and Wood won the lone doubles at the No.3 spot 8-4.

Becker travels to Newbury on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. match, while Bay Path hosts Regis on Monday at 2:00 p.m.
